Literacy Belief StatementAt Salisbury Park Primary School we believe that a consistent whole site approach to the teaching of Literacy and Numeracy is essential to improving learner outcomes and life opportunities for our students. Effective literacy skills are the foundation of lifelong learning. Being literate builds confidence and self-esteem, and enables greater opportunities to participate, function and contribute to our community. We believe that student outcomes will improve when site leaders, teachers and curriculum planners share a common vocabulary and common pedagogy for the explicit teaching of reading, writing and mathematics. This common vocabulary and pedagogical approach is continually developed through a commitment to high quality ongoing professional learning. At Salisbury Park we are committed to differentiating the curriculum for a diverse range of learners. Differentiation is based on the ongoing collection and analysis of a range of data that informs the teaching and learning cycle for our staff and students. Salisbury Park Primary School was established in 1974 and is located 20 km north of the city in a residential area with large recreational areas and parks. The school comprises 225 students aged 5-13 years old.
Classrooms are based in one of four cohorts: Redgum, Banksia, Waratah, and Jacaranda.
The Jacaranda Unit has been set up to support 32 students with varying disabilities. They have their lessons in 4 classrooms.
The school leadership team comprises the Principal, Deputy Principal Wellbeing Leader, and Jacaranda Unit Leader. We currently have 16 teaching staff and 18 ancillary staff and all work collaboratively to support student learning and wellbeing.
An active volunteer group of caregivers and family friends enhance teaching, learning and extra-curricular activities.
A Governing Council of parent representatives is elected annually in March and meets twice a term.
We have an active Out of Hours School Care programme and bookings can be made for students to attend from 6.30am-8.30am and 2.55-6.30pm.
